The local holiday tradition that is now The Trains at NorthPark began more than six decades ago under Ban Bywaters' family Christmas tree. "Today," said Mr. Bywaters, 60, a vice president at Merrill Lynch, "it's become bigger that I could have imagined." And a lot different. For one thing, the Age of Steam is long past - so some explaining has become necessary. In 1974, the younger Mr. Bywaters, who was then a manager at a savings and loan, hauled out his collection to set up an exhibit promoting the company's building in Preston Center. It consisted of four trains. Mr. Bywaters built the exhibit himself with 4-by-8-foot plywood sheets he assembled in a vacant sixth-floor office. He then hauled the display down to the lobby. That first Christmas season, the exhibit attracted 25,000 people - 1,000 of whom opened accounts at the bank. "So we decided it was a pretty good marketing tool," he recalled. The exhibit later moved to the Crescent building, then to the Galleria, then 10 years ago to NorthPark Center. Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas Since 1987, The Trains at NorthPark exhibit has been delighting the hearts and minds of young and old alike. This holiday family tradition has become a favorite for generations of Dallasites and includes 1600 feet of track. Each year, the beloved holiday experience welcomes more than 70,000, and has helped raise more than $13 million for RMHD since its original run in 1987.

He is not afraid of any topic, and speaks on COVID-19, masking, vaccines, mandates, school district issues, Dallas County issues, and common sense conservative principles.
As an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin, he signed up for an advanced course in immunology and reveled in the ensuing contest. Edwin struggled greatly in that class—and the “challenge” is what appealed to him about that subject. As a Ph.D. student with the late Matthew L. Thomas, Flores cloned, expressed, localized, and described the biochemistry of novel anti-cancer-causing genes, and published five scientific papers in the journals Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Immunology, Progress in Immunology, and Immunogenetics. Then, halfway through this "very, very challenging" work, he began to consider "an even greater challenge": working at the intersection of science and law as an intellectual-property attorney. Edwin was born in Mexico City to an American mother and a Mexican father – who was the first Mexican citizen to obtain a Ph.D. in nuclear physics. As a lawyer and trained scientist Edwin has been finding and fusing dualities all his life. The results are remarkable.

Since his childhood, Roy Ponder, aka POW Ponder on Weather, has had a passion for the weather. In 2017, POW Ponder on Weather was born, he launched a Facebook page as an outlet to fulfill his hobby and help him to craft his forecasting skills. He created the motto “Protecting you before and after the storm”, because he literally does just that. His forecasting style relies on the 120 years’ worth of weather data, he is an analyst by nature, and matches up analogs and weather patterns from past events to create his forecast. He has grown his platform from Facebook and now has a channel on YouTube, where he forecasts nationwide with daily videos and live reporting in high impact events.
He started running in 2009 with groups that soon embraced his passion for the weather and were constantly bombarding him with inquiries about the upcoming forecasts for their Saturday runs. This then led to his wife creating a place on Facebook that he could share all things weather related and keep his friends informed in the local DFW area. In 2017, POW Ponder on Weather was formed. In a short time, he gained 1000’s of followers. What set him apart from others, was his infectious enthusiasm in his Facebook Live videos that he would do during high impact events. Sometimes he would be live for five hours at a time. This was a huge service for the community. He was even moved to tears by one his followers sharing a story that Roy was the reason his parents were notified to take shelter just 30 seconds before the roof was torn off their house during the October 2019 tornado outbreak. Networks were not even broadcasting about severe weather at the time due to the Cowboy being on. He has become a local go-to source for anything weather-related. He will help YOU weather the storm.
In the summer of 2019, Roy expanded his reach to a new platform and started a YouTube channel, where he forecasts nationwide. It has now grown to over 60,000 followers in that short time.
